Equipment Overview

ACUMEN Book runs on computers running Windows Server 2000/2003/2008, or Windows XP/Vista/7. ACUMEN also runs on Intel Macintosh computers with OS 8.6 or greater installed. ACUMEN is not supported any version of Windows Small Business Server.

For dedicated server specifications, please see Windows Server Recommendations or Macintosh Server Recommendations. Ethernet is required for networking of multi-user sites. At minimum, a 15" monitor running at 800x600 or higher resolution is required for the server.

For workstations, please see Windows Workstation Recommendations or Mac Workstation Recommendations.
At minimum, a 19" monitor with a resolution of 600x800 of higher is required for workstations. Larger monitors and higher resolutions will help you take advantage of ACUMEN's multi-process capabilities.

ACUMEN does not generally support screen resolutions lower than 800x600, as some windows in ACUMEN are too large to fit completely on small screens.

For backup data protection, a DAT tape drive (DDS-3 or DDS-4) or DLT tape drive is necessary. See Backup Strategy.

Before purchasing new hardware, please discuss your company's specific needs with ACUMEN technical support. We highly recommend purchasing name brand equipment. We have experienced many problems when clients have purchased no-name workstations assembled by local consultants or computer stores.
