EDI
Interchange Optional Module
What
is EDI?
Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) is the exchange of business
data between trading partners. A trading partner is a supplier, customer,
carrier, or other company with whom you do business. "Transaction sets" are
the means by which information is exchanged; they are the electronic equivalent
of documents
(i.e. invoices, purchase orders, bills of lading).
What
the ACUMEN EDI Modules Does
The ACUMEN Electronic Data Interchange
(EDI) Module works in conjunction with 3rd party EDI software enabling you to
exchange information between ACUMEN and your EDI trading partners without having
to input the data by hand. This reduces errors in the exchange of business transactions,
reduces labor costs, and improves customer service by improving response time.
ACUMEN deals with EDI transaction data indirectly, through the 3rd party EDI translation
program. Data exported out of ACUMEN is translated into a standard EDI format.
Data imported into ACUMEN is translated from the EDI format into a format that
can be recognized and processed by ACUMEN.
